Playa Uvero Alto – Uvero Alto
This beach is located at the most northern point of Punta Cana and is 45 minutes from the Punta Cana International (PUJ) airport.
Playa Uvero Alto is not very well-known but it is one of the most beautiful and virgin beaches lined with palm trees as far as the eye can see and longer than one can hope to walk. The waves are perfect for water sports such as windsurfing and traditional surfing. There are five magnificent all-inclusive resorts. Sunrise and sunset are absolutely stunning so pony up to a lounge chair or take a leisurely stroll.
The resorts offer all kinds of activities for the beach such as horseback riding, windsurfing, surfing, sailing, kayaking, snorkeling and diving.
If you are not staying at one of the resorts, you can access the public area of the beach but you need a car and a guide to show you or be prepared to be adventurous! Once you exit the new highway the roads are a bit old so watch out for potholes. An option is to call one of the resorts ahead of time and arrange for a day pass that will cost between $45-$90 per person but that includes all you can eat and drink, entertainment and more. It is worth it! You will need identification such as a license or passport to enter- be sure to ask what they require.
To be noted:
Since Uvero Alto a relatively underdeveloped area, there are only a few bodegas and local artisan shops. It is best to stay in a resort so you have all the comforts, shopping and activities they offer. Excursions to many activities can be arranged through one of the resorts below.
